On 26th July 2025, the Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete Foundation (JMKF)  participated in the  Women’s Build Day event organized by the Tanzania Women Architects for Humanity (TAWAH). Held under the powerful theme: “Safe Environment, Quality Education for Our Children.” The event focused on enhancing the safety and quality of educational spaces in Tanzania.

The event brought together professionals, educators, students, and development stakeholders committed to improving school infrastructure and supporting community development. The highlight of the initiative was the joint effort to support the construction of a fence at Kawe Ukwamani Secondary School, aimed at providing a safe and secure environment for students.

“In recognition of the efforts by TAWAH and various stakeholders in improving the school environment, we commend and thank them for supporting the construction of the fence, which will help strengthen student discipline and safety, enabling students to receive quality education.” Mh. Shadrack Maxmilian, representative of the Kinondoni District Commissioner, commended TAWAH and its partners for their efforts.

As part of its support, JMKF made an in-kind contribution of bags of cement for the school fence construction. This contribution is a testament to the Foundation’s commitment to uplifting learning environments, especially in underserved schools. A secure school compound not only protects students and school property but also promotes better learning outcomes by fostering a peaceful, focused environment.

This initiative aligns with JMKF’s mission to bring about progressive change and transform the quality of people’s lives by contributing to safe, dignified spaces for learning. We believe that quality education begins with a secure environment and remains committed to supporting collaborative efforts that foster sustainable community development.

“Together, we build not only walls, but futures full of promise, dignity, and opportunity.”
